Fomi Dam Project in Guinea

The Project is located in the lower reaches of Niandan River, a tributary of the Niger River, in the east of Guinea, and the catchment area above the site is about 11,213 km2. The Project is developed for irrigation, power generation and navigation. The recommended installed capacity is 90 MW, the mean annual power output is about 315 GWh, and the irrigation area is 3,500 hectares. The reservoir is of a multi-year regulation type with a regulating storage capacity of 2.326 billion m3. The project is of a large (1) scale.

The “leading reservoir” to be formed on the Niger River will fully regulate the natural inflow process, greatly increase the flow in dry seasons, bring safe, reliable and guaranteed power supply to surrounding areas, and create favorable conditions for water diversion, irrigation and navigation in Guinea and Mali, and effectively promote the agricultural development.

BIM model has been adopted to simulate and visualize the construction process.
